Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California
Epilepsy is one of the major health problems of our nation. More than 3 million Americans have epilepsy, yet it remains one of our most misunderstood and unknown health issues. About 181,000 new cases affecting people of all ages are diagnosed each year, resulting from head injury, stroke, prenatal illness, a variety of illnesses, and many other causes. The cause of epilepsy is unknown in over 70% of cases. About half of people with epilepsy have continuing seizures even with treatment. Many face problems in educational attainment, employment, transportation, and social interactions. The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California is your local center providing services to families affected by epilepsy since 1953. We are dedicated to serving the nearly 140,000 people with epilepsy in our region and seek to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences and prevent, control and cure epilepsy. The Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California is the regional representative of the Epilepsy Foundation. We are located in Pleasanton, California and provide services to the Northern California region. We are a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization and are supported solely by the generosity of the community to serve families affected by epilepsy.
