Director of Community Services

SUMMARY:

The Director of Community Services is needed to deliver epilepsy programs and services to the Metropolitan Washington community.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide direct oversight for, growth, and delivery of epilepsy programs and services within the Metropolitan Washington community
  • Train advocates and act in a supportive role to facilitate referral linkages with public, private, and community organizations
  • Deliver level one case management services and train volunteers to do the same
  • Plan and lead trainings, meetings and events; support fairs and exhibits
  • Recruit Advisory Board members and engage in planning and implementation of programs and services
  • Manage financial resources within the established budget
  • Collect,compile, and prepare quarterly statistics reports as required
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local partners to increase epilepsy awareness and education
  • Convene and lead "epilepsy round tables" and other business/community collaborative meetings
  • Collaborate with internal departments on a sustainability plan for the delivery of programs and services


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters Degree in counseling, social work or a related field preferred
  • Three years of experience working with families and agencies within the District of Columbia


SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:

  • Communicate orally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders, including the general public, parents, staff, volunteers, and representatives of community agencies
  • Work independently and collaboratively with groups of varying sizes
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative partnerships
  • Ability to work independently to analyze situations accurately adopting and effective course of action
  • Budget experience, accountability and program reporting
  • Travel as needed within Metropolitan Washington to support program activities (requires independent, reliable transportation)
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion
