Is it just me, or over the past 3 years, has there been A LOT more media coverage when someone famous has a seizure than in the past?
Today it was Senator Ted Kennedy at the Inauguration Lunch. It's all over the news. Before 3 years ago I don't really remember ever hearing about anyone having seizures on the news. Do you? Or are we just more attuned to it now. ------------------------- Absence Seizures for 12 years, diagnosed for 4 of those 12. Well, after having been just diagnosed 2 years ago, I'm of course more attuned to it now. But yeah, I don't really remember hearing much about it. Seizures/Epilepsy is something that everyone knows what it looks like, but only those who have it understand, at least to some degree.
The first time I remember hearing about it in the media was about 10 years ago when I was in high school. A teenager around my age at the time died from a seizure that he had while playing a popular video game. The family ended up suing the makers and since then, all video games have displayed seizure warnings. ------------------------- Stu, 27yr old Diagnosed 3/3/07 TLE Simple Partial Sz's Trileptal 1200mg |
