Special Events Intern
DUTIES:
- Draft letters for potential sponsors, VIPs, media partners, and registrants
- Draft proposals for potential Walk sponsors
- Assist with fulfillment of sponsorship packages
- Communicate with sponsors, media partners and team captains to answer questions and provide support for their involvement with the Walk
- Draft marketing pieces for the promotion of the Walk
- Draft and or update web material for the Walk
- Manage and execute mass mailings
- Provide support at special events
- Attend internal Walk meetings
- Attend and support external Walk meetings as needed
- Draft agendas and correspondence for Walk meetings
- Assist in training volunteers
- Communicate with and recruit volunteers
- Assist in volunteer assignments and schedules
- Draft marketing and promotional materials for our annual Gala
- Communicate with our Gala committee
- Solicit auction items for our annual Gala
- Assist with logistics and planning of the annual Gala
QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will have at least 15 hours a week that they can devote to working in our Landover office. We are willing to consider any level college student, but ideally would prefer at least a second year student. The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience.
The candidate needs to have:
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Strong research skills
- Good writing skills
- Good proofreading skills
- Highly organized
- Detail oriented
