Biography: Gregory L. Barkley, M.D.

Gregory L. Barkley, M.D., practices medicine at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit and is an Associate Professor of Neurology at Wayne State University. Dr. Barkley is currently Chair of the Epilepsy Foundation's Professional Advisory Board and serves on the Epilepsy Foundation's Board of Directors.

His clinical and special medical interests include epilepsy, nonepileptic seizures, EEG, MEG (magnetoencephlography) and health care delivery. His research interests include clinical trials with investigational anti-convulsants, MEG, spreading cortical depression and DC neurophysiology.

Barkley has his board certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a Subspecialty Certification in Clinical Neurophysiology. In the teaching field, he has served as an outpatient and inpatient preceptor for third and fourth year medical students.

Barkley has been a presenter at national and international meetings on various topics. He spoke at an American Academy of Neurology conference on the subject of using technology to enhance the physician's practice. He has been an "Ask the Expert" panelist at the Epilepsy Foundation national conference and has spoken about epilepsy surgery, as well as epilepsy and depression.

Barkley is also a member of the American Epilepsy Society, the American Academy of Neurology and the National Association of Epilepsy Centers. He has also served on several National Institutes of Health grant review committees.
