Jade and Jazmine Burnam

Twins Jade and Jazmine Burnam were both diagnosed with epilepsy at age 2. For their mother Bridget, managing their condition and finding the right treatment has been a challenge. Bridget is a single mother and has become an advocate within her community by encouraging employers to express more support and compassion for parents who are managing a child's illness.

As participants in the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program, Jade and Jazmine are eager to spread awareness that while epilepsy is a serious issue, children with epilepsy are the same as other kids. The girls hope to communicate that people with epilepsy deserve understanding and compassion, and that their condition is beyond their control.
