"Epilepsy is a hard disorder to have, but if more people come forward to share their stories, people living with epilepsy can realize they are not alone."
-- Cory

Cory is an intelligent, articulate boy who is said to be a born charmer. He has dreams of one day starting his own Epilepsy Foundation in Tulare County. At age 11, a grand mal seizure changed Cory's life during a trip to the supermarket. He had no prior history of seizure activity. However, an EEG test revealed Cory had epilepsy.

After the diagnosis, Cory relied heavily on support from his family and friends. In school, Cory has trained his classmates about how to administer seizure first aid.

Recently, he was certified as a Epilepsy Foundation H.O.P.E. Mentor and can now join other mentors in the country who are "patient educators" throughout their communities.

Cory's goal as an advocate in the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program is to share the message that everyone can make a difference in the lives of people with epilepsy by speaking up and making their voices heard.
