"Just because I have epilepsy does not mean I'm not normal, I'm the same as other children."
- Courtney

Courtney Hine is a very charismatic and outspoken young lady. She is anxious to speak up on behalf of children living with epilepsy. For Courtney, gaining acceptance, acquiring effective treatment and dealing with the stigma commonly associated with epilepsy are just a few of the obstacles she and her family have faced.

Dealing with the pressures of living with a seizure disorder can be overwhelming at times, but Courtney depends on the Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester-Syracuse-Binghamton for assistance and encouragement.

The message Courtney brings to Kids Speak Up! is that kids with epilepsy should be treated the same as other kids.
