Andrea Oransky

For Andrea Oransky, the diagnosis of epilepsy was extremely difficult for both her and her family. Like many children with epilepsy, Andrea struggled through many years before finding the right treatment to control her seizures.

Today, Andrea is an active young woman. She enjoys volunteering for the Epilepsy Foundation and is very involved in the organization's fundraising efforts. Andrea participated in last year's epilepsy awareness video for healthology, "Portrait of a Child with Epilepsy." In addition, Andrea regularly serves as a spokesperson for epilepsy in her school and youth groups.

Andrea is eager to participate as an advocate in the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program, and she aims to promote equal treatment for those with epilepsy. Andrea feels it is important to spread awareness of her seizure disorder and to communicate that children with epilepsy are no different than other kids.
