Age: 9
Grade: 2
Central Ohio

As an infant, Terrell Pleasant experienced a stroke and was soon diagnosed with epilepsy. Since that time, Terrell has been in and out of hospitals in an effort to manage his seizures and find the right treatment for his epilepsy.

In spite of the difficulties associated with his condition, Terrell's positive attitude has been an inspiration to his family and community. With the help of his school administrators, Terrell is making great strides in special education classes where he receives additional support from his teachers and classmates. Recently, Terrell was selected to share his experiences with epilepsy during a panel presentation at an Epilepsy Foundation summer camp.

As an advocate in the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program, Terrell would like people to understand that children with epilepsy enjoy the same activities as other children and they should not be treated differently because of their condition. Terrell does not see himself as different from other children, and hopes that someday, no one else will.
