"I want people to know that in spite of my condition, I am a normal teenager, who enjoys hanging out with friends, writing poems and singing."
- Marie-Claire

Marie-Claire Rose is a talented writer who has lived with tonic-clonic seizures since she was 18 months old. In the past decade, Marie-Claire has undergone multiple surgeries and battled a number of subsequent infections post-surgery. On average, Marie-Claire still experiences five to six seizures a week. Like many children living with epilepsy, she struggles to find a treatment that will control her seizures.

Today, Marie-Claire is involved with "Respect," a prevention education theatrical program, in which she re-enacts her battle with epilepsy for high school kids throughout New York City.

Marie-Claire feels it is important to spread awareness about her seizure disorder, and educate her peers about epilepsy in order to eliminate stigma and reduce discrimination.
