Eduardo Sierra

Eduardo is a fun-loving child who was diagnosed with epilepsy when he was 7 years old. In a single day, Eduardo would experience more than 90 seizures. Frantic to find a treatment to control his seizures, his parents opted for Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) therapy. The implant by itself was not entirely able to prevent Eduardo from having seizures, so his parents turned to the ketogenic diet.

Together, the VNS and the ketogenic diet are the right combination to control Eduardo's seizures. He is eager to share his experiences with lawmakers and other families at the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program.
