Jennie enjoys hanging out with her friends, eating all the foods she craves and being an every day teenager. In June 2001, Jennie was diagnosed with generalized epilepsy. She experienced a relief period for two years before her 15th birthday when her seizures worsened.

In addition to taking her medications, Jennies relies on acupuncture as an approach toward finding seizure control. She remains optimistic that new techniques will be developed to treat epilepsy.

Jennie is anxious to participate in the 2005 Kids Speak Up! program to advocate for more educational programs that promote epilepsy awareness among high school students. Jennie believes that her condition is a "gift" because it has allowed her to grow beyond her expectations.
