KSU Participant Colin Bush "Epilepsy is a condition that I have, but it does not make me who I am. I'm a good person who just happens to have it."

Colin Bush is a tenacious young advocate who often writes letters to television and radio producers that make insensitive comments about epilepsy. He received the "South Star" award from his high school last year, in recognition of his of academics, service and citizenship.

"I want to change the way the world views people with disabilities."

Colin developed spasms as an infant. The first attempt to diagnosis his seizure was dismissed and ruled out as "baby behavior." Through his mother's persistence, he was referred to a child neurologist who later diagnosed him with epilepsy.

Under the physician's care, Colin's infantile spasms were controlled, however he then developed atypical absence seizures, for which he is still being treated for today.
