2006 Kids Speak Up! Participant BiographyIan Moore "It makes me sad when kids don't want to play with me because of something I can't help."- Ian Age: 7 Ian is an articulate 7 year old who enjoys participating in activities. After his childhood DTP shot - an ordinary vaccine for children - Ian experienced a seizure. Thinking that is was a reaction to the shot; the doctor assured the family that it would not happen again. He was later diagnosed with epilepsy. After numerous medications, CAT scans, EEGs and several MRIs, Ian still experiences seizures, but takes it all in stride. The Washington Times recently featured an article about Ian entitled Taking Epilepsy Down a Notch. As an advocate in the 2006 Kids Speak Up! program, Ian aims to increase understanding that children with epilepsy are not different from their peers. They can ride bikes, swim and do the same things other children can do. Back to 2006 Kids Speak Up! Participants by State... |
