2006 Kids Speak Up! Participant BiographyThomas Shafer "Epilepsy can be scary, especially if other people don't understand. I want to help other kids that are not as fortunate." - Thomas Age: 13 Thomas Shafer, a 13 year old from Wilmington, Massachusetts, was first diagnosed with epilepsy at age 4. For his family, this meant struggling through the unpredictable nature of seizures until he found the right medication. As an advocate for the 2006 Kids Speak Up! program, Thomas hopes to help people understand that they should not be afraid of seizures, and wants to make sure other children get the help they need. He would like the world to know that children with epilepsy are just like everyone else, and enjoy doing fun things just like their peers. Back to 2006 Kids Speak Up! Participants by State... |
