Jennifer Smith

"At times, epilepsy has made it hard for me to play sports. My coaches are often worried that I will hurt myself, which makes it difficult for them to allow me to try new moves. They treat me like a child." Jennifer is a high-spirited athlete who enjoys cheerleading and playing soccer for her school's team. She also loves to talk on the telephone for long hours about "girlie" stuff.
She was diagnosed with epilepsy about one year ago, and at times finds it challenging to cope with the effects of the condition.
Jennifer feels it is important to advocate for epilepsy awareness in schools to increase sensitivity for seizure disorders. She wants to make sure that children with epilepsy are treated the same as other kids.
