Melissa BradleyAge: 10
She is fortunate that her entire family—including her firefighter dad—are eager to join in the epilepsy movement to ensure that people with seizure disorders can participate in all life experiences. Melissa participated in her local Epilepsy Foundation’s first summer camp this past summer, and became an immediate role model for the other campers. Her always optimistic demeanor is an inspiration to others. “Just because someone has epilepsy,” Melissa said, “it doesn’t mean that they can’t do whatever it is they want to do. For me, some things are more difficult. I can dance and play soccer and even ride a horse and hang out with my friends… The thing I want people to know about me is that just because I have epilepsy doesn’t mean you have to treat me differently than anybody else.” |
