Heather Good Heather Good is a confident and vivacious young woman. She interacts well with others and makes friends easily. She is a teen ambassador for her local Epilepsy Foundation affiliate, so she visits local schools to teach students and teachers about epilepsy. She takes part in the Teen Adventures Club and often leads new members and shares her own experiences with them—and she is looking forward to becoming a camp counselor for her epilepsy summer camp program. All told, this giving young woman has logged more than 200 community service hours at her school.

“I think that some people might be afraid of someone with epilepsy, but if you see me on the street or in school you would never know I have epilepsy,” Heather said. “I would really like to educate people on what it is like to have epilepsy and help to get rid of misconceptions about epilepsy. For instance, from talking to people about my epilepsy I’ve learned that most people only know about grand mal seizures when there are really over 20 different types of seizures. I would like other kids to know that you do not need to lose consciousness to have a seizure. I really just want people to learn what to do when someone is having a seizure and know the myths of epilepsy—like you can’t swallow your tongue. It’s impossible.”
