About CBS Cares

Emmy Award-winning actor Eric Braeden was featured recently in a CBS Cares public service announcement (PSA) shown after several epilepsy-related episodes of The Young and the Restless on CBS. The 10-second televised message provided more information about epilepsy as well as a web address and telephone number of the Epilepsy Foundation to help viewers cope with the many issues that come with the condition.

CBS Cares"CBS dedicates considerable PSA time to worthy and well known issues like drug abuse, AIDS and mentoring," explained Martin Franks, Executive Vice President, Planning, Policy and Government Relations, CBS Corporation. "However, we also seek out equally worthy issues that are less well known. So when Tony Coelho, chairman of the Epilepsy Foundation, made the case to me for epilepsy awareness and understanding, it was an obvious candidate for CBS Cares."

The multiple award-winning CBS Cares campaign – at the heart of CBS's public service commitment – consists of CBS-produced PSAs featuring talent from a wide array of programming. CBS Cares has developed a reputation for embracing often stigmatized and underserved causes, such as HIV/AIDS, Epilepsy, Diversity, Alcohol Abuse, Breast Cancer, Child Abduction, Child Abuse, Colon Cancer, Drug Abuse, Education, Literacy, Menopause, Mental Health, Mentoring, Obesity, Osteoporosis, Prostate Cancer, Violence Prevention, the V-Chip and Women's Heart Disease.
