Epilepsy Foundation's 35th National Conference Held in OrlandoNational Conference News: Listen to audio archives from three conference sessions: The Epilepsy Foundation’s 35th National Conference was held at the Wyndham Palace Resort in Orlando, Fla. The event brought together families, friends, and colleagues to learn more about epilepsy, build support, and recognize special achievements. The conference featured sessions, workshops, and speakers who addressed a variety of topics of interest to the more than 400 people who attended, including people with epilepsy, medical professionals, and the volunteers and staff of local Epilepsy Foundations. Throughout the conference, participants had an opportunity to meet leading experts on epilepsy treatment, social issues, and family life. Sessions focused on managing behavior in children, mood disorders, new medications and treatments, photosensitivity and complimentary therapies. Two sessions were web broadcast in real time, with questions and comments from both the conference audience and from the Internet. Conference highlights included a keynote address by singer, author, producer and humanitarian Naomi Judd and two separate awards ceremonies honoring those who have made a significant impact in the field of epilepsy this year. During the opening session, Judd shared her unique vision and life experiences with the receptive audience. Awardees included activists, volunteers, journalists, the "Winning Kid," and a woman with epilepsy who has “Made a Difference” in the lives of others. Planning is already underway for next year's conference in San Diego. |
