Diamox AvailabilityThe Epilepsy Foundation has continued to monitor shortages of Diamox (acetazolamide) and now reports that all formulations of this medication and its generic equivalent are currently available. According to communications from the Food and Drug Administration, the 500 mg extended release Diamox capsules are available from the manufacturer, Barr Pharmaceuticals. Although the Diamox brand 250 mg and 125 mg tablets are no longer produced, multiple generic versions of these acetazolamide tablets are available. Two pharmaceutical companies report availability of their 125 mg acetazolamide tablets: Mutual: (215) 288-6500 Three more pharmaceutical companies report availability of their 250 mg tablet formulations: Lannett: (800) 325-9994 People who are used to taking the Diamox brand at lower dosages (125 or 250 mg tablets) should talk to their doctor about the generic equivalents.
