Urban Beauty Collective logoAs an African-American woman, you know how important it is to take good care of yourself. Eating balanced, nutritious meals and getting regular exercise are key ways to safeguard your health and wellness. Another way is to pamper yourself with visits to salons and spas to give your body special attention. A nice massage or freshly done nails and hair can help a woman look and feel her best.

Educating yourself about different health conditions is also a part of making sure you will always feel your best. The next time you go for your hair appointment, check for educational literature about epilepsy. The Epilepsy Foundation has teamed up with the Urban Beauty Collective to place information about epilepsy in hair salons around the country.

If your salon or barbershop is one of the 10,000 member salons in the United States, you will find information about epilepsy and seizure disorders that you can use to educate yourself and others about the condition.

Watch the television in the salon for information about epilepsy from actress Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon. You may recognize her from the television series The Jamie Foxx Show and NYPD Blue. Also, listen out for messages from Garcelle on the UBC radio network, which may play in your salon.
