Medicare Prescription Drug Discount Card

Do You Know About the New Drug Discount Card and Other Future Changes to Medicare?

Medicare patients have started taking advantage of the program's new Medicare Drug Discount Card, which has been available since June 2004. The discount card is part of changes to Medicare that were put in place by the federal government in 2003.

The Epilepsy Foundation encourages people with epilepsy who qualify for Medicare to make use of an online resource tool created by the National Health Council and AARP that explains the new Medicare Drug Discount Card. The tool also offers a timeline for all of the upcoming Medicare changes.

"The new Medicare prescription drug benefits are complex, and to help consumers understand their options, the National Health Council and AARP have created an easy to use guide," said Eric R. Hargis president and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation and chair of the National Health Council. "We want to make sure consumers have the information to help them make informed decisions about the new discount cards, as well as plan for the other Medicare changes that will take effect next year."
