Submission Guidelines & Entry Rules Submission of Entries - Each contestant is limited to one entry. Submissions must be original work, meaning they may not have been previously published. The only exception to the previously published rule is the submission may have been published in a high school publication.
- Deadline for submission is May 15, 2006. All entries must have a completed entry form included with the submission.
- Submissions must be news articles that report on epilepsy or seizure disorders, or features that report on people living with the condition. No columns, opinion pieces or poems will be considered.
- Submissions must be typewritten. No hand-written entries will be allowed.
- In the case of articles already published in high school publications, submissions must be mounted to 8"x10" poster board with entry form attached to back of poster board.
- Submissions may be emailed in a Microsoft Word document (if not published), or mailed to the Epilepsy Foundation (if pubished in high school publication).

Entries and entry forms that are mutilated, damaged, torn or illegal will be disqualified.
- Submissions will not be returned.
Eligibility - All high school students are eligible to submit articles for publication on the Foundation's website and printed magazines. However, only high school seniors are eligible for one of the three college scholarships awarded by the Epilepsy Foundation and its sponsor, the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
- Family members of all Epilepsy Foundation employees and board of directors members (national office and all affiliates), and employees and family members of sponsor are not eligible to participate.
- Program is open to U.S. citizens and/or permanent residents.
Judging - A committee will select winning entries. Epilepsy experts and professional editors will make up the deciding committee.
- Stories will be judged at the sole discretion of the committee on the basis of originality, writing style, quality of work and adherence to contest guidelines.
- The decision of the committee will be final.
Ownership of Entries - The entrant agrees that the Epilepsy Foundation shall have the right to use entries in any manner to promote Epilepsy Foundation programs. The entrant shall agree to give the Epilepsy Foundation a non-exclusive royalty license and copyright permission at no cost for work that has already been published in another publication.
Announcement of Winners - Winning entries will be announced on our site by June 16, 2006.
- Winners agree to the use of their name and photo in all materials of the Epilepsy Foundation and the program's sponsor to promote scholarship winners and Young Reporter's Club program without compensation or notification. Promotions to include press releases, news articles in printed materials and on the Internet, and future promotion of the Young Reporter's Club program.
