The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping Georgians with epilepsy/seizure disorders. Based in Atlanta, the Foundation focuses on: educating the professional and general community about epilepsy through annual symposiums and programs held throughout the state; providing outreach through a statewide network of support groups; and assisting in quality of life issues through specialty camps for children/adults and medical referrals and advocacy on behalf of all Georgians living with epilepsy.

Did you know that 1 in 100 people in Georgia have epilepsy? 1 in 100 means

  • Several students at your elementary, middle or high school

The Epilepsy Foundation of Georgia recently completed the first six months of its’ 2008-2009 fiscal year. During this 6 month period the Foundation provided

  • 72 educational in-services, reaching 9,676 people in 58 counties
  • information and referral to 1,728 people
  • camp scholarships to 49 children and adults with seizures
  • emergency medication assistance for 99 persons
  • a very well attended Advocacy Symposium in November
  • heightened awareness of epilepsy through its’ advocacy efforts, resulting in more than 300 persons signing up to be epilepsy advocates
  • EEG’s(Epilepsy Entertainment Gatherings) were added, providing social activities to persons with epilepsy and their families

These programs were made possible by the following accomplishments

  • The Taste of Love gala, which raised more than $260,000. This was the largest single fund raising event for the Epilepsy Foundation in the entire country in 2008.
  • The Magnolia Run, which raised $17,000
  • Major support from UCB, the Epilepsy Company
  • Major support from Pfizer, Inc
  • The advocacy efforts of hundreds of individuals throughout Georgia to make life better for people with seizure disorders
