Donate Your Automobile or Vehicle
You can earn a charitable income tax deduction by donating an automobile, RV, truck, boat or trailer to the Epilepsy Foundation. You'll avoid the costs and hassle of selling a used vehicle and we'll tow your vehicle for free. You must own a clear title to donate a vehicle.
Effective January 1, 2005, vehicle donors must follow new IRS rules to determine how much can be claimed as a charitable income tax deduction. For vehicle donations greater than $500, the deductible amount shall not exceed the gross selling price. For vehicle donations under $500, donors can claim the fair market value on the vehicle, not to exceed $500. For contributions with a gross selling price greater than $500, the Epilepsy Foundation will provide a receipt to the donor that includes the sales price. For vehicles with a gross selling price less than $500, the sales price will not have be included in the receipt.
- Simply access our car donation wizard or call (877) EFCARS7. You'll receive an e-mail acknowledgment confirming your intention to donate your vehicle.
- Within 4 business days of receiving your paperwork, you will be contacted to schedule a time to pick up your vehicle.
- When the vehicle is towed, you'll receive a receipt for tax purposes within 10 business days.
