Message from the Chair of the Professional Advisory Board

In support of the Epilepsy Foundation's goals within the strategic plan to increase the number of qualified scientists conducting epilepsy research; invest in targeted research areas, as well as research that will improve diagnosis and clinical care for people with epilepsy, the Research Committee and Professional Advisory Board (PAB) have identified priority areas of research for the future.

The plans for new targeted research initiatives have been approved by the Board of Directors to implement one new initiative per year between 2007 and 2011. New initiatives will fund epilepsy research regarding the elderly, youth, women and reproductive issues, catastrophic epilepsies and systematic development of models for healthcare delivery.

Each research initiative will be led by a panel of experts appropriate for the area of research to be developed. The Foundation is thankful to those that have confirmed their participation thus far.
