Bidders won cool collector’s artwork and original signed drawings from one of television’s biggest hits. At the same time, they helped Heroes star Greg Grunberg support epilepsy awareness and research, in an auction benefitting the Epilepsy Foundation.

Heroes is a show about ordinary people discovering they have extraordinary powers, and learning to live with their new capabilities. Airing Monday nights at 9 on NBC, "Heroes" is one of the biggest breakout hits of this television season.

The Eclipse

Greg Grunberg is one of the stars of the ensemble drama. He plays Matt Parkman, a former police officer who suddenly discovers he can read minds. Another hero is Isaac Mendez, a painter and comic book artist who learns he has the ability to paint the future. The artwork in this special auction represents pieces on the show from Isaac’s art gallery.

Homecoming

The artwork is actually created by Tim Sale, a comic book artist who has professionally drawn some of the most famous superheroes of modern times including Marvel Comics’ Spider-Man, Hulk, and Daredevil and DC Comics’ Superman and Batman.

Hiro Battles T-Rex

On Monday March 26th and Monday April 2nd, fans bid on unique collector’s editions of this artwork, including the prints on canvas and the original drawings autographed by Tim Sale. NBC made special arrangements for all proceeds from the art auction to benefit the Epilepsy Foundation.

The Exploding Man

Epilepsy is one of the most common disorders of the nervous system, affecting people of all ages, racws, and ethnic backgrounds. More than 3 million Americans are living with epilepsy. First aid for epilepsy and seizures includes keeping the person safe, staying calm, and never putting anything in someone’s mouth.

Greg Grunberg was the Chair of the first National Walk for Epilepsy, and will chair the next National Walk on March 29, 2008.

“It is such an honor to participate in any way we can to raise awareness in the fight against epilepsy.”

The Epilepsy Foundation is the national voluntary agency solely dedicated to the welfare of the 3 million people with epilepsy in the U.S. and their families. The organization works to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; and to prevent, control and cure epilepsy through research, education, advocacy and services. In addition to programs conducted at the national level, epilepsy clients throughout the United States are served by local Epilepsy Foundation offices in nearly 100 communities.
