Don't Let "Doomsday" Come for People With Epilepsy...
Call Your Illinois State Representative TODAY!

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 is going to be a devastating day for people with epilepsy in the State of Illinois.
That's the day the state's FY2010 budget goes into effect. And right now, that budget contains NO money for specialized epilepsy care services, such as the kind currently being offered by the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. Without this funding, our vital programs and services will face severe cuts.

Download our Impact Paper to learn exactly how specific epilepsy services across Illinois will be affected by these cuts.

2009 Greater Chicago Epilepsy Walk

Walk Passes $160,000 Mark...
And Keeps Growing!

Walkers, runners, and supporters of all ages have raised over $160,000 for the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago through the Foundation’s ninth annual Greater Chicago Epilepsy Walk. Walks were held on Saturday, May 16 Chicago's Lincoln Park and on Saturday, May 10 at the Danada Forest Preserve in suburban Wheaton. Nearly 1,300 individuals attended the combined events. Money raised will be used to fund epilepsy education and support services throughout Chicago and northeast and central Illinois.

Pictures from both Walks have been posted in the Photo Gallery.

Foundation President Debbie Goss was encouraged by the strong show of support this year's Walk events generated, despite the current economic situation.

“Even in these challenging times, people have consistently shown that they’ll continue to support those causes that are meaningful to them, and which they see as making a positive difference,” Goss noted. “We’re so thankful to all of the individuals, families, sponsors, and other supporters who helped keep the Greater Chicago Epilepsy Walk strong, so that the vital programs and services we offer to individuals with epilepsy and their families can continue to grow."

Individuals who wish to support teams or individual walkers can still do so by visiting the walk Web site at chicagoepilepsywalk.kintera.org.
