Camp Blackhawk

Camp Red Leaf at Red Leaf Village
Ingleside, IL

Sunday, July 19 - Friday, July 24, 2009

"Mom, it was great! There were crafts and swimming and campfires and singing!"

Last year, 40 children ages 6-18 attended the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago's Camp Blackhawk. For a full week, kids were treated to the outdoor experience of a lifetime.

With an average of 2 children per counselor, and medical staff on-site, there is always a helping hand when needed at Camp Blackhawk. Counselors are specially trained to handle the needs of children with epilepsy.

Starting this year, Camp Blackhawk is being held in a NEW location—Camp Red Leaf at Red Leaf Village, an American Camp Association (ACA) accredited camp which is located in Ingleside, IL and operated by the Jewish Council for Youth Services. Ingleside is in Lake County, just south of the Illinois/Wisconsin Border in Lake County and easily accessible by car or Metra train. Parents and/or caretakers will be required to transport their child to and from camp this year.

Camp Blackhawk activities include:
Crafts, Swimming,Archery,Canoeing, Music, Fishing ...and more!

The cost for this year’s camp is $600. There are a limited number of camper scholarships available to assist families with the cost of camp. These scholarships are given out on the basis of financial need and promptness of application, so applications should be completed and submitted as soon as possible.

Also, please be aware that although we have expanded camp capacity this year, there are a limited number of spaces available for campers. Spaces are given on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The deadline for the applications is July 3, 2009, if camp has not filled up prior.
