Kids Speak Up!

On March 28th-30th, 2006, Meghan Frey of Anderson Township represented the youth of Greater Cincinnati in Washington D.C. as a Kids Speak Up! Representative.

The cherry trees were in full bloom as Meghan, her mother, Mary Frey, and Doug Simmons of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati joined with other kids, their families and Epilepsy Foundation staff from around the country on Capitol Hill to lobby elected officials in support of epilepsy related issues.

This support comes in the form of funding for critical epilepsy initiatives at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as well as for epilepsy research at the National Institutes of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS). We would like to thank Meghan and her mother for sharing her story in the ongoing pursuit for new treatments and a potential cure for epilepsy.
