Mardi Gras 2006

Purple, green and gold? Jugglers on stilts?? A marching band???

This could only be the Epilepsy Foundation’s 2006 Mardi Gras Gala at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Cincinnati.

With ceremony and more than just a little fanfare, Greg  Carmichael, Executive Vice President of Fifth Third Bank  was crowned “King of Mardi Gras” replacing Dr. Michael Privitera, King of the 2005 Mardi Gras. Mr. Carmichael was honored for his time and effort not only to the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, but also to the entire Cincinnati community.

Over 200 people gathered on February 28, 2006, aka “Fat Tuesday” dressed in their finery to enjoy a cocktail reception, dinner and live music from Robin Lacy and DeZydeco. The food, the atmosphere and the décor (those balloons were huge!) left little doubt that this was the Mardi Gras party not to be missed.

The Epilepsy Foundation would like to thank everyone for their generosity in making this event such a huge success. Of special note is the countless hours put in by Kathy Stewart, Director of Residential Services at the Epilepsy Foundation.

This year’s celebration grossed $130,000 for Camp Dream Catcher, a unique program that provides children with epilepsy the opportunity to learn new skills, build self-confidence and self-esteem, make new friends and create lasting memories in a week-long or weekend session  that is fine-tuned to their specific  needs.
