A Note From The Executive DirectorGreetings! It’s summer, and I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather and some time with family and friends. Our 17th annual Mud Volleyball Tournament was held June 23rd. This year’s event had many changes. We moved locations to the grounds of the Red Barn Flea Market. While the mud was great and we are pleased to say that we did not have any injuries, we did miss the picturesque setting of East Fork Lake. We have begun planning for our 2008 Mud Volleyball event and are looking for creative people who would like to be on the planning committee for this fun-filled event. If interested, please feel free to contact our office. Camp Dream Catcher was held July 8th-12th on the beautiful grounds of Camp Kern in Warren County. The kids had a wonderful time swimming, rock wall climbing and participating in all kinds of fun camp activities. Mark Findley, Director of Camp Dream Catcher, does a fantastic job organizing the camp and ensuring that each child has fun, feels connected and truly feels a part of an amazing group of people. Mark has a wonderful way of making each child feel special. That is one of the many true benefits of Camp Dream Catcher. Preparations have begun for the fall weekend camp, so please watch for more camp details to follow. We are gearing up for a busy fall. With schools starting, our Community Educator, Tom Koprowski, will be busy educating teachers, nurses and administrators on epilepsy and epilepsy first aid. One important aspect of school training is that it is specific training geared towards children. Our “Kids on the Block” program utilizes puppets to help teach young children about epilepsy. We have wonderful volunteers who help with this presentation. We are looking for additional people who would be willing to be trained as “Kids on the Block” volunteers and help us present this program to children. If you are interested, please contact Tom Koprowski. Lastly, I would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati for their dedication and continued hard work. Thank you to all of our volunteers who continually step forward to help enhance our programs, services and fund raisers. Our staff and volunteers are the true key to our success. Best wishes for a happy and healthy summer! Kathy Stewart Executive Director
