Counseling ServicesThe Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Cincinnati employs staff who are trained and qualified to assist people with epilepsy and their families, in the area of counseling. This counseling is specific to the individuals needs, and may take the form of one of the four following types: Crisis Intervention: Counseling aimed at promoting the resolution of a client's immediate crisis and the restoration of the client's ability to adequately cope and function. Early Intervention: Counseling geared towards promoting positive self-concepts and attitudes in children with newly-diagnosed epilepsy and their families so that future psychological and social problems might be prevented. Supportive Counseling: Counseling aimed at promoting a client's ability to maintain the social and economic structures of his or her life. Therapeutic Counseling: Counseling provided to promote a client's greater self-understanding and ability to achieve a new measure of responsibility for his or her life. |
