Epilepsy Foundation of Central and South Texas

Support Groups

Having epilepsy or caring for someone who does can be very challenging. Sometimes the practical problems of daily living - from insurance, to jobs, to medical care - can seem overwhelming. At other times, it helps just to talk to people who understand what it's like to live with epilepsy. These groups are open to everyone -- see you at the next meeting!

Epilepsy Support Groups can be:

  • A place to talk about the issues that concern you, with people who know where your coming from
  • A forum in which to give and receive information about epilepsy and treatments
  • Share support and encouragement and be informed about legislation, research and resources

Epilepsy support groups are designed to provide peer support, information sharing, and discussion of common interests. They may also include presentations by professionals on topics of interest. The groups listed here are open to anyone affected by epilepsy. The support groups are not intended to furnish medical advice or professional psychotherapy. The views or opinions expressed at these support groups are not necessarily reflective of the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas (EFCST).

EFCST hosts several support groups throughout our service area. There are currently (3) adult support groups, and (1) parent support group. Meetings are offered in: Austin, McAllen, and San Antonio.
