EFNENY AWARDED STANDARDS OF EXCELLENCE!The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York, Inc. received a Standard of Excellence certification in recognition of its outstanding commitment to serving people with epilepsy from the Epilepsy Foundation national office in Landover, MD at their recent National Epilepsy Leadership Conference. The Standards of Excellence were established by the national office to ensure that its 50 independently-operated affiliates in the United States achieve the highest level of quality in eight distinct areas: Governance, Operations, Finance, Advocacy, Research, Communications, Programs and Development. “There is reason to celebrate the tremendous diversity in the Epilepsy Foundation network, and Standards of Excellence successfully provides us the opportunity to keep the uniqueness of our respective organizations, while demonstrating excellence in all areas of our operations,” said Eric R. Hargis, president and CEO of the Epilepsy Foundation. “We congratulate the Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York on this outstanding achievement. This organization is one of only five affiliates nationwide to achieve Standards of Excellence thus far. ” The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York provides an array of services to residents of the Capital Region, the North Country and the Upper Hudson Valley. Our services include information and education about epilepsy, service coordination, counseling, school educational programs, and professional inservice training. More than 45,000 residents in our 22-county catchment area throughout northeastern New York are living with epilepsy. “The Epilepsy Foundation of Northeastern New York was the first affiliate in the country to achieve Standards of Excellence” stated executive director, Jeannine Garab. “We worked hard for this achievement and know that people with epilepsy in our area as well as their families and caregivers will benefit from the quality programs we are providing on a daily basis.”
