All About Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a neurological condition that makes people susceptible to having seizures. A seizure is a change in sensation, awareness, or behavior brought about by a brief electrical disturbance in the brain. Seizures vary from momentary disruptions of the senses, to short periods of unconsciousness, to convulsions. Some people have one type of seizure while others have more than one type.

Epilepsy is not a mental disorder. It can be caused by anything that affects the brain, including tumors and strokes. Often, there is no specific cause for a person's seizure activity.
