Epilepsy Foundation Middle & West Tennessee
MISSION STATEMENT
The Epilepsy Foundation Middle & West Tennessee is dedicated to the prevention and control of epilepsy and its consequences, and to helping persons with epilepsy, their families and other concerned individuals overcome the problems associated with the disorder.
LEGISLATION MAKES YOU SAFER
The Epilepsy Foundation Middle & West Tennessee is supporting two bills that are before the legislature this session. The two bills are the Patient Protection Act (HB121/SB442) and Diastat (HB2073/SB461).
-
The PATIENT PROTECTION ACT requires that the physician and patient be notified and provide documented consent before the patient's epilepsy medication can be switched from one formulation to another.
-
The DIASTAT BILL proposes that in any school where a child with epilepsy has been prescribed Diastat by his/her doctor, there will be two trained volunteer lay people who are willing to administrate the Diastat.
Please contact your state legislators and ask them to support these important bills.
If you have any questions about these bills or would like more information about how you can help spread the word, please call EFMWT at

DO YOU HAVE A STORY TO TELL?
Has your prescription ever been changed from brand to generic or from generic to generic (different manufacturers) without your knowledge?
Has your medicine ever looked different when you picked it up? Did the pharmacist tell you that it was exactly the same as what you had received before?
Has your school-aged child been prescribed Diastat?
If so, we would like to hear your story!
If you can answer YES to any of these questions, please contact
