Family & Individual Support Groups

One of the goals of the Epilepsy Foundation of Rochester-Syracuse-Binghamton is to help individuals and their families with epilepsy and related disabilities, and those dealing with traumatic brain injuries,  reach their potential. Support groups create the time for sharing feelings, for problem solving, and for networking. Please take a look at the current support groups and schedules to find the group that best meets your needs.

ROCHESTER GROUPS
 
Adult Support Group
6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Apr. 3, May 1, June 5, July 3, Aug. 7, Sept. 4, Oct. 2, Nov. 6, Dec. Holiday party to be arranged

Pizza & soda from 6 PM - 6:30 PM and meeting from 6:30-7:30 PM.  This group enables adults to come together to share their experience and knowledge about living with epilepsy. Speakers on topics will be provided at some meetings, and other meetings will be open forums with an opportunity for personal sharing and networking. Support Group meets at the Epilepsy Foundation, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 300, Rochester, NY.  Call Robin Didas-Mott, social worker, for more information (585) 442-4430, ext 2708.


Parent and Family Network

Parents of Adults with Brain Injuries

Challenges related to living with a brain injury traumatic or acquired often results in the upset of the rhythm and development of the entire family.  This group will provide a forum for parents of adults who have had brain injuries to meet other parents so they can share their experiences and successes while providing mutual support. Integration Skills for Young Adults with Brain Injury
6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Mar. 17, Apr. 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, Aug. 18, Sept. 15, Oct. 20, Nov. 17, Dec. 15

Challenges related to living with a brain injury often result in an upset of social skills needed to successful integrate into the community. This group provides a forum for younger adults (generally 18 - 35 years) who have experienced brain injuries to learn the social skills needed to be safe and successful adults in the community. It also provides participants the opportunity to learn more about themselves and their interaction styles. This group will provide encouragement to practice strategies for managing life. Support Group meets at the Epilepsy Foundation, 1650 South Avenue, Suite 300, Rochester, NY.
