The Epilepsy Foundation prides itself on providing the latest and most accurate information about epilepsy to the general public.

The Kids on the Block Puppet Troupe

Kids on the Block Puppets A creative approach to epilepsy education geared for 3rd through 5th grade students. Puppets discuss first aid and dispel myths about epilepsy.

Each performance is FREE and lasts approximately 25 minutes. It is an excellent health presentation.

Because You Are My Friend

This educational program is designed for Pre-K through 1st grade. The cartoon-like video provides young children with a simple and clear understanding of epilepsy. A representative will review the video and read a book about epilepsy to the children. This program is offered FREE of charge and lasts about 25 minutes.

Head Injury Prevention Program

Purple Brain logo Proceeds from the Brinker Cup Polo Match provide this important prevention program to school-aged children.

Children learn prevention methods and safety instructions. Following the presentation, children are invited to participate in a poster contest - illustrating their knowledge of head injury prevention.

Each year the winning posters and bookmarks are distributed to participating schools and their students.

Resources on Epilepsy for Teachers and School Personnel

A representative from Epilepsy Foundation of Southeast Texas will provide education to school personnel through the use of videos and literature designed to improve understanding of epilepsy. Videos show actual seizures and describe first aid and seizure management within the classroom. Fears and concerns are addressed. Reviews how epilepsy may affect learning and discusses how the teacher can make the school experience positive.

This presentation is offered for staff training and is offered FREE of charge and lasts approximately 30 minutes.

School Alert

Brain drawing This packet contains literature designed to educate school professionals about children with seizures, including important tips on providing first aid for seizures in the classroom. The first three packets are FREE.

Students with Seizures: A Manual for School Nurses

This manual reviews epilepsy, seizure classifications, and various treatment methods. It also includes information on helping the school nurse as an educator and case manager. Price is $21.47 each.

The Epilepsy Foundation has a variety of videos available for individuals, families, school professionals, and medical professionals. All videos are 1/2 inch VHS format. A refundable deposit of $5.00 per video is required for a two-week loan. Video titles include:
