Telemedicine Services

The Epilepsy Foundation in collaboration with the University of Texas Medical Branch offers a unique program to significantly increase access to medical and psychosocial services. Telemedicine, funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Health, uses relatively simple technology to connect physicians and patients in distant geographic locations through a two-way interactive audio/video link. A television screen and microphones at each site allow physicians and patients to see and communicate with each other. The medical staff in both locations works together with each patient to conduct an in-depth assessment of the patient's needs.
