Summer Camp for Kids with Epilepsy

Summer camp for kids with epilepsy is a safe, fun, overnight camping experience for children, eight to seventeen, with a primary diagnosis of epilepsy.  Summer camp promotes independece and self esteem.  Kids learn from each other about living with seizures and epilepsy.  During the one week session, campers participate in a variety of activities, buld new and lasting relationships, and meet peers who share their diagnosis.  For more information or to request a registration packet, please contact the Epilepsy Foundation at 608-442-5555 or 800-657-4929.


Epilepsy Family Study of Columbia University

The Epilepsy Family Study of Columbia University is seeking volunteers for a study of the role of heredity in epilepsy.  Right now we are focusing our research on a particular form of epilepsy, in which people have changes in their hearing associated with their seizures.

You may be eligible if you or someone in your family has (or used to have) epilepsy or seizures associated with one or more of the following symptoms.

- hearing sounds that aren't really there, such as buzzing, ringing, humming or other sounds.                                                                    

- hearing distoritions of actual sounds, such as changes in volume (growing louder or softer). 

- seizures triggerd by sounds such as the phone ringing or music playing.

- any other types of changes in the hearing or auditory symptoms associated with seizures.
