MissionThe Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois is committed to improving the quality of life for persons with seizure disorders and/or other developmental disabilities, through service, education, and advocacy. OrganizationThe Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois is a nonprofit 501(c)3 voluntary health organization serving the Illinois counties of Bond, Clinton, Madison, Monroe, Randolph, St. Clair and Washington. One out of every 100 people has epilepsy, with 80% of the cases diagnosed in childhood. Epilepsy is a chronic disorder of the central nervous system characterized by seizures. Epilepsy is not a disease, and therefore, there is no “cure” for epilepsy. Even though there is no cure for epilepsy, in many cases, complete control of seizures can be brought about. The Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Southern Illinois is dedicated to the welfare of people with epilepsy in helping individuals and their families live well with epilepsy. |
