Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia

Director's Corner

Dear Web Page Visitors:

Epilepsy is often called the poets' affliction. Many writers and composers had epilepsy. Lewis Carroll, Flaubert, Gide, Dostoevski, Handel, Mendelssohn, Paganini and Tchaikovsky are just a few examples. But persons with epilepsy also face problems. That is why the Epilepsy Foundation of Virginia Board in June 2001, accepted a strategic plan based on the following principles:

  • Five regional offices will be opened to help Virginians with epilepsy locally.
  • Bicycling will be promoted among those with epilepsy who cannot drive.
  • A famous person will be enlisted to help clients understand the importance of taking the medication.

We now have three regional offices and athlete Jason Snelling did educational materials with our organization. We gave away three bikes. We still need time and money and more ideas. Are you willing to give us your ideas, especially if you have epilepsy? Please write to me.
