Information & Referral Services Emergency Prescription Assistance Advocacy Educational Programs H.O.P.E. Mentors Epilepsy Awareness, Seizure Recognition and First Aid training is provided to all interested groups such as employers, schools, public safety personnel, civic and social organizations, and others. In-depth training about the issues surrounding epilepsy is provided to parents, teachers, paramedics, law enforcement officers, long-term care facilities, organizations assisting persons with disabilities, and other organizations as requested. Support and promotion of seizure prevention activities. For 70% of people with epilepsy, there is no known cause for the disorder. In the 30% that have an identifiable cause, head injuries are the leading known cause of epilepsy. Always wear a seatbelt when traveling by car. Wear helmets when biking, skating, or participating in specific sports. Utilize child safety restraints in cars, grocery carts, strollers, and high chairs. Encourage those who ride motorcycles to wear helmets. School Nurse Training is designed to provide the school nurse with information, strategies, and resources that enable him or her to better manage the student with seizures by supporting positive treatment outcomes, maximizing educational and developmental opportunities, and ensuring a safe and supportive environment. |
