Epilepsy Foundation Metropolitan New York Secures Funding for Epilepsy Clinic
July 7, 2011
The Epilepsy Foundation National Office would like to thank our affiliate, the Epilepsy Foundation Metropolitan New York, and its local advocates for their hard work advocating for the people living with epilepsy in New York City. As a result of their tireless efforts, the New York City Council will continue its 44-year commitment to the more than 100,000 people living with epilepsy in New York City.
Despite initial elimination from the budget, $184,000 has been re-instated for the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene to continue its support for the epilepsy clinic at the Epilepsy Foundation Metropolitan New York (formerly the Epilepsy Institute). This is New York City's only social service support dedicated and specialized for people with epilepsy. These funds make it possible for the clinic to serve all those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
