Mighty Mike Bounces Back CoverMighty Mike Simmel, whom you might recognize from the Harlem Wizards basketball team, is out working for epilepsy awareness yet again!! We featured him recently in an epilepsyUSA's article titled Unlikely Superhero, because of his work with Kids Speak Up and his work with the New Jersey affiliate.

Mike is now back and has co-written an empowering story to help kids learn to live comfortably with their epilepsy and to take control of their life. The book titled Mighty Mike Bounces Back is based off of Mike's own life. Simmel describes the book as "my story mixed with a bit of fun!"

The main character, also named Mike, uses his love and talent for basketball to overcome his worries and be courageous in the face of obstacles, including his epilepsy. Simmel describes the book as a children's story with an element of self-help. The book is geared for children ages 8-13 and shows them they can accomplish anything despite whatever challenges they face.

"Mighty Mike Bounces Back is both informational and entertaining," said Eric M. Joice, Executive Director, Epilepsy Foundation of New Jersey. "It explains simply, yet realistically, the perspective of a person growing up with epilepsy and to think about inevitable challenges and how to confront difficult situations."

Not only is this book interesting, fun, and motivation-- it is educational, too. Mike included a guide for dealing with epilepsy, information on the types of epilepsy, and information on what to do if someone has a seizure.

Mighty Mike Bounces Back is available for purchase from Amazon or Barnes & Noble. you can view a promotional video about the book here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksGQiX0Futo
