Biography: Frank Gilliam, M.D., M.P.H.
Frank Gilliam, M.D., M.P.H., is Caitlin Tynan Doyle Professor of Neurology and Director of the Comprehensive Epilepsy Center at Columbia University Medical Center. He trained in Epilepsy and Clinical Neurophysiology at Massachusetts General Hospital, and was a research fellow in Epilepsy at Harvard University and the Cleveland Clinic. Before coming to Columbia, Dr. Gilliam was Director of the Adult Epilepsy Program at Washington University. His research has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Epilepsy Foundation, and has focused on patient-oriented health outcomes, the neurobiology of depression in epilepsy, neuroimaging and electroencephalographic predictors of outcome from epilepsy surgery, and novel pharmacological treatments for epilepsy. Dr. Gilliam has received an American Epilepsy Society Junior Investigator Award, an Epilepsy Foundation of America Research Award, and a Clinical Investigator Development Award and Mid-Career Investigator Award from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke. Dr. Gilliam has served on the Scientific Program Committee and Annual Course Committee of the American Epilepsy Society, and the Outcomes Research Committee of the American Neurological Association. He has published a book, Depression and Brain Dysfunction, and has authored or co-authored more than 100 papers and book chapters. Dr. Gilliam serves on the Editorial Board of Epilepsy & Behavior and is the Co-Managing Editor of Epilepsy Research, and has served as a peer-reviewer for more than 20 scientific journals. |
