About Project Access for Epilepsy

Project Access involves state agencies, physicians, other health care providers, families, schools, and community resources, whose collaborative efforts strive to improve access to comprehensive, coordinated health care and related services for children and youth with epilepsy residing in rural and medically underserved areas.

Components included in the initiative are:

  • Statewide demonstration grants to foster innovative strategies to support children and families with epilepsy and address the unique needs of their targeted communities
  • The development of a national continuous quality-improvement strategy using a learning collaborative model to address needs within the health care system
  • A national educational and awareness program led by the Epilepsy Foundation

Goals of Project Access: Increase awareness and provide education, improve the quality of services for children and youth with epilepsy, and promote a medical home model that provides coordinated, comprehensive care services for children and youth with epilepsy.
